According to SaharaReporters,they have uncovered a document that revealed a million dollars of Bayelsa State's Poverty allocation fund spent by then gov Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to bring in Beyonce and Jay Z to Nigeria in 2006.
The letter which was stamped and signed by Bayelsa Officials approved the sum of N150 ($1m in 2006) which was released from the state's poverty alleviation fund for the first ThisDay Music Festival in 2006.
Mr. Obaigbena's newspaper,ThisDay, is a major sponsor of entertainment events that invites top foreign music stars as well as top public figures to Nigeria in exchange for grangantuan paychecks.
SaharaReports obtained a letter from Mr. Obaigbena to the Bayelsa State govt requesting for funds. Read below...
At the bottom of the letter,minuted by hand and signed by then Gov. Jonathan's aides as well as the Bayelsa State accountant general are the words:
"We invite you to partner with us co-hosts of the festival . With a total budget of $10m,the co-host is expected to contribute a minimum of $2.5m.
Release N150,000,000.00(one hundred and fifty million naira) only to be drawn from the poverty alleviation subhead"The document came to light after a controversy started over how much Tv reality star ,Kim Kardashain was paid for her 45secs stage appearance at Darey's Love like a movie concert. Kim was reportedly paid $500k.
